In
1991 a group of young supporters of the De Paule Philharmonic Society were
encouraged to form a Youths Committee. The idea became a reality and the first committee made up of the following persons was set up:-
This was the first Youths
Committee and a good number of these people are still very active within the
Society. This demonstrates the commitment and unity of these founder
members. The first activity organised by this new committee was a Dinner Dance on Christmas 1991. Up to that day the social activities organised by the club were quite
rare. However the Commission now had the task to ensure that such activities became more frequent, bigger and better. Another activity synonymous
with the setting up of the Commission was the band march held on the Tuesday
during the week when the Parish feast is celebrated. The members of this
Commission took full responsibility for the organisation of this march as they set
up money collecting schemes to finance this activity. The Commission also took
the initiative to improve the organisation and add to the merriment of all the
marches held during the village feast. Improvements could be seen as early as
1992 - since then the Commission has never looked back and has ensured that the
marches improve every year. Every year the Commission
prepares something new to add to the merriment during the marches. Items
prepared by this Commission include balloon stands, a big golden peacock, big
artistic flags,
T-shirts, music cassettes and
compact discs
with popular songs
and hymns sung by the
supporters themselves and various other things.
Another important annual
activity organised by this commission is the Holy Week Exhibition. This
exhibition has been appreciated by a large number of Maltese and foreigners alike
who come to visit it during this week. It is a showcase of the talents and
competence of the members of the Committee. This activity started ten years ago
and the only place available then for the Exhibition was the upper hall of the club.
The hall's atmosphere was turned into a more sober one by covering it with
sacks. A reconstruction of the Table of the Apostles according to the Jewish
rituals was prepared and a number of members were encouraged to exhibit any
statuettes and other holy objects belonging to them. Since then the
exhibition has developed and matured tremendously. Today, the Society is proud to
have one of the best exhibitions of the whole island. The Supporters also organise a spectacular event which is a pagaent which recreates a number of scenes from the passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. (Photos of this event for 2004, 2005).
A very busy period for the
Commission is the Christmas season. The Commission was the first one to decorate
Paola Square with festive light designs which were fully created by the members of the Commission. A number of prizes
and trophies have been won by Commission for
these designs. After celebrating the fifth anniversary since the setting up of the Commission in 1996 with a concert by the band at the Corradino Lyceum, it was noted that an ever increasing number of people First

Thanks to this and all the other Committees and Sections within the Society, the club has become very dynamic and is kept alive throughout the whole year. These Committees attract an ever increasing number of members towards the Society who, through their contribution, are transforming the Society into one of the best on in Malta.
