SOCIETY PRESIDENT - JOSEPH BOFFA

Joseph Boffa, the current President of the G.M. Fra Antoine De Paule Philharmonic Society, was born in Paola on 7th March 1932. He is the second child, out of six, of Paul and Mary Boffa. He was baptised in Paola where he has been living ever since.

Mr. Boffa was elected President of the Society during the General Assembly of 1982. The Society has made giant strides forward during his Presidency, supported by an able team.

During his Presidency, the Society has been practically restructured with the setting up of a number of Commissions through which work could be delegated better. This permitted the Society to be more efficient and effective. Another important point was the establishment of the Society's School of Music.

First  Committee presided by Joseph Boffa

Joseph Boffa has donated a considerable number of musical instruments for use by the Band. He has also donated a number of musical scripts  which today adorn the Society's musical archive. The President has also been responsible to organise a large number of recordings of the Band and the publishing of a considerable number of compact discs (CDs).

One of the most important works under his presidency has been the complete refurbishment of the Society's premises at Paola Square. What was once a derelict place in danger of collapse in certain places has been transformed to a place where the members of the Society can enjoy a club with all the modern facilities which give them the chance to rest and relax and also to meet their friends.
