THE SOCIETY WELCOMES THE NEW PARISH PRIEST

The G.M. Fra Antoine De Paule Philharmonic Society officially welcomed the new Parish Priest for the Christ the King Parish of Paola, Dun Vincenz Cachia, on 4th June 2006.

FUNERAL OF FORTUNATO FERRO

The sad news of the demise of Fortunato Ferro reached the Society on Thursday 4th May. As a sign of gratitude and respect, the Banda Kristu Re of the Society lead the funeral corteo.

 Mr. Ferro was a long serving and active member of the Society.

CONDEMNATION OF VANDAL ACT

On the Wednesday 9th March during the night an unknown person or persons carried out a vandal act on the Billboard which was advertising the activity named ICHTHUS which being organised by the Society to commemorate the Passion  of our Lord Jesus Christ. These person defaced the Billboard by throwing paint on it with the aim of covering the event detail.

VandalismThe Society condemns this attack and asks anybody who might have any information to contact the Police immediately. Such acts of vandalism are acts of cowardice carried out by person/s who do not believe in the real values of the Maltese people. This Billboard, which showed an act from the Passion of our Lord, advertises a religious activity which reflects the faith of most of the Maltese people. The Society shall do its utmost to continue to promote the culture of Malta and Paola during the various activities it carries out during the year.

We hope that such acts of vandalism will not be repeated and we thank you in advance for your co-operation.  

 

NEW BISHOP FOR GOZO

After 34 years as leader of the Diocese of Gozo, Bishop Nichol Cauchi resigned on 26th November 2005. On the same day Pope Benedict XVI elected Dun Mario Grech as the eight Bishop of Gozo.

The G.M. Fra Antoine  De Paule Philharmonic Society of Paola would like to convey its sincere congratulations to the Bishop Mario Grech who on the 22nd of January 2006 started his work as Bishop of Gozo.  Whilst wishing every success to Bishop Grech in his future endeavours we would like to salute Bishop Nikol Cauchi for the work he carried out and we would like to wish to him AD MULTOS ANNOS.

The Society held an Epiphany Concert by the University Junior College Orchestra in the main hall of its premises in Paola. Manoel Pirotta directed the orchestra made up of promising musicians from the Junior College, some of whom attend the Society's school of music.

The Christ the King Band of the G.M. Fra Antoine De Paule Philharmonic Society held its Annual Christmas Concert at the Society's premises in Paola on Thursday 29th December. The Band, directed by Archibald Mizzi, played Joy of Music by Jan Hadermann, Life is Beautiful by Nicola Piovani, Daniel's Lullaby by David Sammut, Beatles Collection, La Golondrina by Narcisio Sanadel, O Holy Night by Adolphe Adam, Concerto d'Amore by Jacob De Hann, Christmas Medley by Lorenzo Pusceddu, We are the World by Lionel Richie. Analise Busuttil Azzopardi was compere.

Click on picture to zoomThe Society's Music School Band was invited to participate in the activities organised during the Christmas Season by the National Commission for the Folklore to raise funds for the Community Chest Fund.

The band performed in two concerts, one in Pjazza Helsien (Freedom Square) in Valletta and the other at the Valletta Waterfront on the same day in the evening. Directed by Archibald Mizzi, the band played musical works on the festive season's them.



CLUB WINS HONOURS FOR CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

The Partitarji De Paule have once again made the Society proud. Through their sheer hard work and creativity they have managed to win a number of honours in the competitions organised by the National Folklore Commission. The official results have been announced by the Department of Information. (www.doi.gov.mt/EN/press_releases/2006/01/pr0005.asp)  on the 4th of January 2006.

The majestic Club facade has once again won the first prize in the "Clubs, Councils, Organisations and Civic Centres Facade Category". The Club also classified second and third for the "Commercial Roads Category".

The Partitarji have once again come up with a spectacular design for the facade - a colourful and intricate design which blended the Christmas spirit with the musical aspect. The public could also enjoy the synchronised lighting system.

The Club Supporters (il-Partitarji) have now established themselves as the National Champions for the best decoration of a Club facade in Malta during the Christmas period.
